I saw someone mention they’d picked up a new beer from Whitewater Brewery in Co. Down in Bradleys on North Main St. Obviously, this caught my eye so I headed in to see what they have.

They’ve gone and made a pilsner over at 8 Degrees, and it’s rather tasty.

search and rescure demonstration in Cobh today

The Coastguard, Naval Service, Air Corps, Civil Defence and more put on a superb search and rescue demonstration in Cobh today.
They showed rescues in a variety of situations – from fishing boats on fire to swimmers in the water.

naval service fleet review 2012

President Michael D. Higgins took part in a review of the Naval Service in Cobh yesterday.

5 ships took part, L.E. Eithne the flagship of the Irish Naval service, LE Niamh, LE Aisling, LE Aoife and HMS Mersey from the Royal Navy. LE Eithne was moored at the deepwater quay, waiting to welcome the president aboard for the review.

Once the 4 ships had arrived in Cobh, they anchored just offshore and prepared for the review.

The president boarded LE Eithne, and LE Eithne moved down towards Whitegate, to turn and conduct the fleet review heading upriver.

As LE Eithne passed each ship, they saluted each other.

We went on a small roadtrip to Barleycove today.

Just as we got there the sun broke through and it was lovely. There were even a couple of hardy souls in swimming!
