Directors Cut are relocating from the Queen’s Old Castle to French Church St, reopening February 4th.

that’ll leave a huge retail space, I wonder what will move in?

Members of the Occupy Cork movement have, well, occupied a building on Oliver Plunkett St.

This notice is in the door, explaining that the building is private property and tresspassing is forbidden.

It seems they are not without a sense of irony. It remains to be seen whether the legal system will agree.

real time passenger information for buses comes to Cork

You might have noticed that the numbering on buses in Cork City has changed recently. Each number has had 200 added to it,
so the Number 5 is now the Number 205. This is to allow RTPI, Real Time Pasenger Information to be rolled out. This is an electronic sign at each bus stop, telling you when the next bus is due.

We went out to the switch on of the Christmas lights this evening.
There was a good crowd on Patrick St. for the switch on.

Then Rudolph led us all to Emmet place for some carol singing and the switch on of the lights on the Christmas tree.

The Christmas Market on the Grand Parade was in full swing, with some lovely carol singing down by the river.

The English Market was a hive of activity, with most of the stalls open for business. I counted at least four musical acts, from trad to choirs.

We stopped off for nibbles at a couple of stalls, including some fish & chips at O’Connells.

The crowd waiting for the park to open was huge – with queues down Tuckey street and back up to the Grand Parade.

I think it was a brilliant job by all involved – entertainment for everyone, all over the city centre.

I treated myself tonight to a couple of bottles of limited edition Shandon Century Extra Stout from the Franciscan Well Brewery in Cork City. Limited to a run of 1000 bottles (I got 197 and 199) you can get it in the Franciscan Well and in Bradleys on North Main St. Don’t leave it too long though, I expect it to be popular.

I feel as though I should point out signs about fighting the power and taking ‘it’ back from the rich, by co-ordinating on Facebook while drinking Coke, but I won’t.
