Saturday, June 26th, 2010they’re still fixing the flood damage in cork city – cafe depeche
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010they’re still repairing flood damage in a lot of places around Cork City. With insurance claims and building work taking time, some places are waiting to have work done, and some just plain haven’t reopened. Cafe Depeche, on Washington St is one of these. There’s some work happening there lately though, so I’m hopeful they’ll open again soon.

Friday, April 30th, 2010twebt 4 live in the Sextant
Tuesday, April 20th, 2010We have something special planned for this twebt – we’re going to have a live twebt meetup in the Sextant on Albert Quay in Cork!
I’ll bring a projector to show the twebt stream live, and we should have some live videos and chat too. It’s open to everyone, come along to the Sextant bar, Sunday 25th from 8:00 pm for a 21:00 start.
Bring your mystery bottle, there’s a small corkage charge of €5 and don’t worry, I’ll bring a bottle opener
If you’ve not already bought your bottle – head along to O’Briens and buy it there. You can also buy it in any of their shops right up to the weekend.
If you’re ordering online today would be best, but you’ll probably get away with it if you order early tomorrow.
We hope to see you online or in the Sextant!
What’s twebt? It’s a blind wine tasting on twitter. Read all about it here.

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009thanks for all the help
Thursday, November 26th, 2009I wanted to to say thanks to everyone who helped out in the floods.
While I was walking around taking photos, members of the Emergency services (Fire, Gardai and Ambulance) were everywhere, helping. I could see what I think were council workers in high vis carrying radios all over the place, closing roads and helping with traffic.
The workers in UCC who managed miracles in evacuating students, helping to keep the damage to a minimum and who have done so much to get things back on track. The hundreds in the Council who’re working flat out to restore services to the city. The councillors and politicians who have worked outside their remit to help people. And everyone who helped a neighbour, friend or stranger out. It makes me proud to be a corkman. Thanks all of you.
