west cork road trip

Saturday, October 6th, 2012

We were in West Cork today, and with the brilliantly clear weather we decided on a little road trip. We started by going to the top of Mount Gabriel in Schull.

Mount Gabriel has old copper mines, dating waaaay back. You can still see where the original workings were.

We went for lunch in the Black Sheep in Schull (highly recommended for lunch)
Schul harbour.
See the white golf ball like things at the top of the mountain? That’s where I took the photos above.

Then we went on out to Barleycove:

And since the weather was so nice we carried on out to Mizen head.

We went on a small roadtrip to Barleycove today.

Just as we got there the sun broke through and it was lovely. There were even a couple of hardy souls in swimming!

I spent the weekend in Schull.

It’s Regatta week so the town is full of life, and the harbour full of boats.

fishing in West Cork

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

I went down to Schull for the weekend, and went fishing!

The first day we went after sea bass.

We didn’t have any luck though. The second day, we went for mackerel and pollock.

When you’re fishing in an area as beautiful as this, it doesn’t matter if you don’t catch anything 🙂
